Reach is the number of unique people who saw a piece of content or an ad. The difference from impressions is that it does not count repeat views to the same person. Impressions divided by reach gives frequency; without reading the three together you cannot tell how much a campaign is wearing the audience out. It is the core metric for awareness work.
Reach on its own is not a business result; it is only a primary metric in upper-funnel campaigns. When interpreting it, scale it against the size of the target audience: 150 thousand reach in a small province is saturation, while the same number nationwide is a light touch. On the organic side, reach no longer depends on follower count but on how the content performs; a single video from an account with few followers can reach widely. That is why tracking reach per piece of content is a more accurate management measure than growing followers.
Frequency = Impressions ÷ Reach
80,000 impressions against 20,000 reach means an average of 4 impressions per person.
