Commission rate is the percentage a marketplace takes from every sale. In Turkey it typically runs 8%–22% by category — low in electronics, high in fashion and cosmetics. When pricing, commission is calculated on the selling price, not on cost.
Commission is not the only cost: service fees, shipping, campaign participation charges and installment costs are added on top. When joining marketplace campaigns, always check who carries the discount; in some campaigns the seller funds it and commission is still calculated on the undiscounted price.
Net proceeds = Selling price − (Selling price × Commission) − Shipping − Service fee
400 TL sale, 18% commission, 40 TL shipping → 400 − 72 − 40 = 288 TL. At a 250 TL product cost, contribution is 38 TL.
