Order fulfillment rate is the percentage of incoming orders completed without cancellation, shortage or delay. It is measured on seller-caused cancellations. On marketplaces it is one of the heaviest items on the seller performance scorecard; when the rate drops, listing rank goes first and eligibility for campaigns follows.
There are usually three reasons behind an unfulfilled order: stock data that does not match reality, a supplier that does not keep its word, and picking capacity that cannot cope on busy days. The first is the most common and ties directly to inventory accuracy. A drop during campaign days should not be treated as normal; capacity is planned before the campaign, not during it. Seller-caused cancellations should be reported separately from customer-caused ones, because the platform only scores the seller-caused ones.
Fulfillment rate = Orders completed on time and in full ÷ Total orders × 100
If 95 of 2,500 orders are cancelled by the seller, the rate is 96.2 percent; that is a large enough loss to affect listing visibility.
