What is Incoterms?

Incoterms are the standard delivery terms that define how costs and risks are split between buyer and seller in international trade. EXW, FOB, CIF and DDP are the most used. Failing to state which term applies when quoting a price creates serious disputes.

Detail

In e-commerce exports DDP (customs duties borne by the seller, no extra payment by the buyer at the door) is preferred most because the customer experience is best; but the cost and risk sit with the seller. If DDU/DAP is chosen, the customer has to pay duty at the door and the return rate goes up.

Example

A brand selling DDP eliminates returns caused by surprise customs duty at the door entirely.
