What is Click-Through Rate (CTR)?

Click-through rate is the percentage of people who see an ad and click it. It is the fastest read on how compelling the ad is and how well the targeting lands. Search ads typically run 3%–8%, social 1%–2%.

A low click-through rate usually points to one of three things: the wrong audience, weak creative, or an irrelevant message. In Google Ads a low CTR drags down quality score and pushes cost per click up, so the problem doubles. On Meta a low CTR slows delivery and raises cost per thousand impressions.

Formula

CTR = Clicks ÷ Impressions × 100

Example
