Payment processing commission is the percentage a virtual POS or payment provider takes from every collection. The rate varies by number of installments, card type, transaction volume and bank. It is low on single payments and rises with the number of installments. Once a fixed per-transaction fee is added, the impact grows disproportionately on low-value baskets.
When setting prices, remember the commission is taken on the entire amount collected; the deduction applies to the total including shipping and tax. As volume grows the rate is open to renegotiation; working with more than one payment provider gives leverage on rate and cover against deductions and technical outages. How many days until payout matters at least as much as the rate, because it lengthens the cash cycle directly. The contract should also be checked for whether commission is refunded on returns and chargebacks.
Net proceeds = Total amount − (Total amount × Commission rate) − Fixed transaction fee
On a 600 TL collection at an assumed 2.5 percent commission, 15 TL is deducted; spread the same sale over six installments and the deduction multiplies several times over, which is visible on a product carrying 90 TL of contribution margin.
